Mooie velgen, goed dat je echte Japanse wielen hebt gekocht! Wel jammer dat de auto nu weer zo hoog staat.

Hoeveel staat er inmiddels op de km-teller?

Thanks for the info. I tried to get in touch with Tomr2, but no response so far. Look like he has been off the forum for a while though...

Any information is deeply appreciated! :)

Audun knows that the Beams was in Belgium, but what happend after? I sold hem to Tomr2 if i'm not mistaking, he sold him to Speedevil. But where he is know? Seems that he is gone know but he have still APK if you check RDW website. I thought/hoped that he was going to another Wild Bunch member. :-/

Thanks a lot for all the help! I got a PM here from a forum member (Rogier) suggesting to check out https://ovi.rdw.nl/ to see the official info on the car. I thought I already had done that, but I somehow was searching with the Jap licencenplage info previously :frusty:

So, I checked it out and found unfortunately only information stating that key info was not registered. I do not know how you managed to tet this one registered, because there are no details on the car except size and such things. Anyways, I am back to square one - thinking the only way of registering the Beams would be to do a TÜV certification of the rebuild - although I am not sure if it sill work. And it is not exactly cheap!

Again, thank you for your help in my quest!

Happy Holidays!

It was with great remorse I read the story about Robert. I am sorry, I was not aware. I will not pursue any more info on this car unless something is given to me.

Please accept my apologies and thank you for clearing this up.

Why do you need the details of this car? I have beams redtop on papers at the RDW put in a AE101. Streetlegal with 204 hp instead of 115hp.

Here in NL you can have it in the papers if the car is not after 1998.

The AE101 is a beautiful car and I bet the Beams makes it even greater! Let me give you a quick background on my quest though...

I have a 92 USDM MR2 with the original 5SFE engine. The engine is broken and my mechanic suggested me to get a hold of a Beams engine to replace the 5SFE. The Beams was delivered only in Japan, which makes this a bit difficult for me. I live in Norway, and the authorities here need to see emission control papers for the euro standard to be able to accept such a swap, they do not accept the emission papers from Japan. However, if I had bought a JDM MR2 in Europe which were street legal with the Beams engine, I would have gotten it street legal here as well due to the EU regulation for import/export of cars.

So, I am looking for papers stating that the Beams engine is registered for road use in a European country, and hopefully I can use this to prove that an engine swap will be legal as many other Beams MR2s are running around in the rest of Europe.

So far I have come across a few JDM cars with Beams, but they have so far no information registered about the engine. Checking the RDW and equivalent sites only state "N/A" on all engine related specs in the register. I have found cars in Ireland, Nederland and Belgium so far, but none of them have proven to show the needed registration information. The best thing would be to find an 1998 MR2 directly imported from Japan registered street legal with enough information stated in the registration papers.

That is my quest...
