I hate to do it but I have to, after one year of driving and restoration I have to sell my 1994 Mr2 turbo. First off the mileage. This car has 357,000 miles, but gauge pod was replaced with new unit so it only reads 27,000 at the moment. I bought it from a guy who used it for commuting back and forth to work from when it was new. After 10 years of commuting it went to his son, then back to him, and finally to me. Since I was going to use it to commute back and forth to work and not knowing of a higher mileage Mr2 I thought it would be cool to have it restored by the time it hit 400,000 and 500,000 miles. I was going to send a letter and some pics to Toyota when it hit 400,000 and 500,000. Anyway things in my life have changed and it is not possible for me to keep this car. If you are still with me so far, here is the condition.
Before we get started I have done all of the work on this car except for the spraying of the paint which a friend of mine helped me with since he has been doing paint for 10 years and I wanted it to be perfect. I did toyota tech classes as electives in college while I was working as a mechanic at a local shop. I have also been working on cars since my first 280z when I was 15. If I did work on the car it was done correctly.
The owner told me that the car had been in no accidents. Which I confirmed because I have a carfax and a autocheck on the car which I will send to anyone that is seriously interested in the car.
Everything on the car works except for the horn because of the MOMO wheel. If it didn't work I replaced it. Every switch, every light, the e-brake, A/C blows cold, everything works. That should take care of a lot of questions.
Interior- The interior is totally black and in imacculate condition. If it didn't meet my standards I replaced it, mostly with peices directly from Toyota which I still have 90% of the receipts from. There is not one cracked or broken peice of the interior, dash is perfect. I have removed the window visors and put a tint strip in its place. I do have a MOMO tuner with NRG quick release hub installed with a MOMO anatomic shifter and new shift boot, but also have the original wheel that will go with the car. Have 6 month old black floor mats from toyota, the carpet under the drivers side floor mat is worn where the feet rest. I didn't get around to replacing it but you can't even tell unless you take out the floor mat. The only thing that stands out if you are looking is the door panels are from a 1992, they are in perfect condition but have the cloth pattern from the 92. I was going to have the seats and panels reapolstered with the same fabric but have ran out of time.
Stereo- I have a full Polk momo speaker system handled by a Clarion DXZ775USB deck with MB quart rears to fill the sound out. This system consists of Polk MOMO 6.5" components in the doors and a Polk MOMO 10" subwoffer in a custom box behind the passenger seat both powered by a Polk MOMO carbon series 4 channel amp. I totally rewired the entire system with monster cable and followed the old stereos wire path. It is done very clean and wired properly. Also comes with an 8GIG usb drive that connects to the stero through the glovebox.
Exterior- The paint is only 6 months old and the body of the car has not one dent anywhere, While painting I also shaved the antenna, has internal antenna replacement. There are some flecks on the front bumper from me commuting back and forth to work and a spot on the hood which I will show in the pics. While painting the car I came up with the design on the tail lights. The paint didn't hold well to one part of the right taillight which I will show in the pics. We thinned down the paint we used on the car and that is what was used on the front and rear turn signals and reverse lights. The lights are perfectly visible and at the same time match the paint perfectly. I have replace all t-top seals and door seals so there are no leaks. The windows have been tinted with 35% legal tint all around.
Drivetrain- Car runs as it should and cranks up everytime. Mobile 1 synthetic oil has been used every 4000 miles since it has been used for commute and doesn't need to be changed as often. The original motor was supposeably rebuilt 80,000 miles ago and I have no reason to doubt this since the car runs and boosts great. I have upgraded the original ct26 with a ct20b. I have also put in a 3" downpipe and a 2.5" exhaust that ends in a magnaflow straight through exhaust. The entire setup is very hidden and not very loud, as I wanted to focus attention on the car and not the exhaust. While I was doing this I replaced all gaskets including the HFH and the HFHOE. The tranny shifts fine but can grind when downshifting into fourth, changed tranny fluid to redline fully synthetic 75w90ns. The clutch grabs and holds with no slipping. The tires in the rear are two months old with 95% and the tires in the front have about 50% left on them. The wheels have a fresh balance on them and I will see that the car has the correct alignment before the buyer takes it. The car rides and feels great and doesn't track to the left or right when you let go of the wheel. This car has never seen a track or a dragstrip. Comes with both JDM and USDM ecus.
I have tried to accurately describe the car as best I can and will let the pictures do the rest of the talking. Also I have other things I am going to put up for sale, I will give the buyer of the car a 25% discount on anything he or she wants to go with the car.
My asking price on the car is $9,500. If you don't want the stereo system I have in it I will take it out and put in my other stereo and leave in the MB quart rear so you will have something to listen to till you get a replacement. This will lower the price of the car to $8,750. Will consider trades for a nice older model mercedes diesel, or other car that I don't have to smog in california up to $4000 of price.
Any other questions feel free to ask. Will be away from my car for about a week. New pics and videos then. Thanks
